While many news sources have speculated that COVID-19 has affected minorities more severely than other groups, this study by Dr. Dustin French of Northwestern University, along with Andrew Chin and Pooja Kathail of Datavant, provides further evidence that COVID-19 disproportionately impacts African American, Hispanic, and low-income populations.
Three separate data sources – mortality data, medical claims data, and consumer data – were combined to gather relevant insights into this groundbreaking study. We are proud that our consumer data, specifically our demographic and income data, was used within this study to draw valuable insights between diagnosis and death distributions by race and income.
